Chester William ‘Bud’ Marker, 82, of Hutchinson, died August 1, 2018, at Brookdale Senior Living, Hutchinson. He was born, February 12, 1936, in Scott City, to John and Elva (Harper) Marker.

He attended Scott City High School. Chester was a true cowboy, loving his horses and a huge fan of old time country music and western movies. He proudly served in the United States Army. Chester worked at numerous mechanic places and became self-employed doing the same. He also worked for the city of Garden City prior to his retirement and moved with his loving wife Erma to Hutchinson, KS

On July 16, 1965, he married Erma Joyce Giesaking in Garden City. She died November 20, 2012.

Chester is survived by: daughters, Diana Lyons (Ralph) and Vickie Elsey (Virgil), both of Hutchinson; sons, Jeff Marker (LeeAnn), of Hutchinson, and John Marker (Michelle) of Haslet, TX; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Chester was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; son, Rodney Marker; brothers, Lyle, Earl, Orland Gay, and Albert Marker; and sister, Beatrice Walters.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2018, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E 12th Ave, Hutchinson, with Pastor Henry Blickhahn officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Glen R. Ruta, 55, of Hutchinson, died July 30, 2018, at his home from natural causes. He was born April 16, 1963, in Fulton, NY, to Adolf and Emma Jean (Warner) Ruta.

Glen graduated from high school in Fulton and attended Auburn Community College. Upon completion of basic training in the United States Army, he served in the National Guard for 22 years until being honorably discharged. Glen held a variety of jobs over the years, including truck driving and construction. He loved animals and was of the Methodist faith.

Glen is survived by: father, Al, Hutchinson; brother, Clark and wife Barb, Hutchinson; sister, Pat McGhan and husband Roger, Cadillac, MI; aunt, Frances Burnett, Arlington, KS; nephews, Nick and Dan Stuber; niece, Molly Stuber; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by: mother, Jean Ruta; baby brother, Adolf; numerous aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Goetzinger officiating. Military honors will be conducted. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.

Curt Parker, 53, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away suddenly on July 27, 2018, in Nash, OK. Curt was born December 21, 1964, in Billings MT to Gene and Kathryn Parker.

He is survived by: wife, Sarah; and her son, Joshua; children, Brody and Sidney of Hutchinson; his mother, Kathy of Hutchinson; a brother, Ed of Cody, WY; a sister, Valerie Algrim of Hutchinson.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. on August 4, 2018, at Bethel-Hawley Baptist Church in Nash, OK.

Margaret F. ‘Maggie’ Ward, 87, of Hutchinson, died Friday, July 27, 2018, at Hester Care Center, located at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. She was born January 26, 1931, in Hutchinson, to Samuel V. and Mary (Jeffries) Westrick.

Maggie graduated from Hutchinson High School and attended Hutchinson Community College and San Diego State University. She worked at State Farm Insurance, Cushing, Hanson, and Company, Collingwood Grain, later known as Smoot Grain Company, and ADM. Maggie volunteered for the Hutchinson Zoo, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, the Kansas State Fair, and Hutchinson Community College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering at the church. Maggie was most fond of her volunteer work for the Hutchinson Zoo and she loved her church.

Maggie is survived by: son, Andrew Ward of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey; and grandson, Jason Ward of Lawrence.  She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Katherine Davis; and brother, John Westrick.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Freeman Chapel located at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1st, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Jeff Slater officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
