James Edward “Jim” Stahl Jr. | 1954 – 2018 |

James Edward ‘Jim’ Stahl Jr., 63, of Hutchinson, died July 7, 2018, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. He was born November 1, 1954, in Edmond, Oklahoma, the son of James Edward Sr. and Carol Joan (Pike) Miller.

He was a 1974 graduate of Topeka High School. Jim was the maintenance man for Eastside Cemetery of Hutchinson for 30 years, retiring in 2014.

On April 19, 1976, he married Esther Pearl Poyner in Meade, Kansas. She survives.

Also surviving are: daughters, Peggy Moss, Joy Franz, and Nikki Stahl, all of Hutchinson; sisters, Jan Kirk of Wichita and Karen Ryan of Stafford; brothers, Donald Stahl of Newton and Steve Stahl of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by: his parents; stepfather, James Miller; and grandparents, Vern and Grace Pike.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Kim Biery presiding. Private inurnment will be in Eastside Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” McCamant | 1933 – 2018 |

Elizabeth Ann ‘Betty’ McCamant, 84, of Hutchinson, died Friday, July 6, 2018, at Larksfield Place Health Care Center, Wichita. She was born August 9, 1933, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Alfred and Catherine (Vessels) Schwarz.

A lifelong Hutchinson resident, Betty graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1951 and Hutchinson Community College in 1953. She married Donald G. McCamant, Jr. on September 4, 1954. After raising four children, Betty returned to college and received her degree in education from Wichita State University in 1982. She taught at TECH Early Education Center until her retirement in 1993. Betty belonged to St. Teresa’s Catholic Parish and was active in the Altar Society. She was also active in the U.S. Postal Carrier Auxiliary, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and Ulster Project.

Betty will be remembered for her grace, kindness, and generous spirit.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and two siblings.

Betty is survived by: children, Nancy Lamberton (Dave), McLean, VA, Dave McCamant (Kim), Hutchinson, Mary Spachek (David), Wichita, Teresa McFarland (Sean), St. Charles, MO; grandchildren, Ellie Lamberton (Logan Stank), Connor McFarland, Ryan McFarland, Michael Spachek, Reed Spachek, Cooper McCamant; siblings, Mary Lou Koch, Hutchinson, Paul Schwarz (Janet), Wichita, Dorothy Haines (Dan), Wichita; and numerous other family members.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E 5th Ave., Hutchinson, with Father Michael Maybrier officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to TECH Early Education Center or St. Teresa Catholic Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Lloyd Dean Edney | 1945 – 2018 |

U.S. VeteranLloyd Dean Edney, 73, of Hutchinson, died Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Via Christi St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born March 2, 1945, in Junction City, to Alton and Esther (Crider) Edney.

Lloyd graduated from Junction City Senior High School. Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, fishing, watching movies and working on his vehicles.

On June 7, 2012, he married Mary Lubbers in Pratt. She survives.

Other survivors include: sons, Robert Millen of Kansas City, MO, Mark Millen of Norfolk, VA, and Joseph Mullen of Arlington, VA; brothers, Robert and Larry Edney, both of Bella Vista, AR; and sister, Carol Nowlin of Alta Vista.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Shirley Chase, Rose Lee Graam, Beverly Jean Lichtenhan, Joan Stone, Earlene Gfeller, and Jackie Fogel; and brother, Allison ‘Sonny’ Edney.

Cremation has taken place. Per the family’s request, there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Alice Lillian Burdette | 1926 – 2018 |

Alice Lillian Burdette, 92, of South Hutchinson died July 4, 2018, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. She was born May 13, 1926, in Hutchinson, to Paul Washington and Laura Pearl (Sims) Thomas.

She graduated from Buhler High School in 1945 and attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, Hutchinson. Alice retired from K-Mart and was a member of First Christian Church, Hutchinson.

On August 30, 1946, she married Ralph Robert ‘Bob’ Burdette in Hutchinson. He died September 17, 2004.

Alice was preceded in death by: her parents; grandson, Jonathan Paul Winkler; a sister, Edith Lucille Hoffmeier; and two brothers, Paul Edward and Walter Milton ‘Sonny’ Thomas.

She is survived by: daughters, Carrolyn Sue Miller (Danny), Kathryn Louise Winkler (Stephen), Linda Colleen Burdette; sons, Kenneth Eugene (Linda G.), Daniel Wayne (Frankie), all of Hutchinson and Christopher Allen of Salina; grandchildren, Carrie Poersch, Paul Miller, Joseph Winkler, Michael Winkler, Tessa McCoy, Megan Burdette, Staci Dater, Kassidy Corwin and Kris Rupp; great-grandchildren, David, Eric, Nathan and Laura Poersch, Emily, Britney, Finley and Rowan Winkler, Adylae, Alycea, Amauri and Blaide McCoy, Nataylie Pina, Bennett Moss, Abigail and Timothy Dater, Christopher, Kaleb, Kalton, Kimberlynn and Kolleena Stubbs; and sister, Flo Ann Johnson, Kansas City, Missouri.

Memorial service will be 9 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018, at Mennonite Friendship Communities Chapel, 600 W. Blanchard, South Hutchinson, with the Reverend Lou Gomez officiating. Private family burial will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Pastor Bob Phipps officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. with the family here from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Friendship Meals, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Clarence Edward Crawford | 1936 – 2018 |

Clarence Edward Crawford, 81, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Thorne Care Center, Wesley Towers. He was born November 10, 1936, in Salina, to David and Leota (Dykes) Crawford.

Clarence graduated from Salina Sr. High School in 1955. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and Korean War. Clarence was a master pressman for 50 years for various companies.

On May 14, 1982, he married Betty Ruth Stratton in Hutchinson. She survives.

Clarence is survived by: sons, Gregory Crawford (Teresa) of McPherson and James Crawford (Kathleen) of Hutchinson ; daughters, Penny Bosack of Oklahoma and Stacy Bosack of Great Bend; stepsons, Timothy Lee (Jessie) of Kingsville, MO; stepdaughters, Nancy Smith (Sam) of Hutchinson, Virginia McClatchey (Doug) of St. John, and Brenda Lee of Hutchinson; sister, Shirley Schrole (Roger) of Salina; sister-in-law, Judy Crawford of York, NE; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, David Crawford; and sister, Colleen Weeks.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Jeff Lee officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
