Jane Sawyer died June 21, 2018. She was born July 14, 1926, in Gardner, Kansas, the daughter of Bert and Etha (Lasley) Atwood. Jane graduated from Kansas University in 1947 with a teaching degree. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, PEO Chapter CM, and volunteered for various organizations.

On June 19, 1948, she married Gene Sawyer at Danforth Chapel in Lawrence. They were married 55 years. He died in 2004.

Jane is survived by: sister, Isobel Falkenstien (Max) of Lawrence; niece, Jane Hart of Topeka; nephew, Kurt Falkenstien (Paula Martin) of Lawrence; great-niece, Kate Falkenstien (Rich Boltizar) of Palo Alto, CA; and great-nephews, Joe Hart, Eric Hart (Amaris and their children) of Tucson, AZ.

A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to the Gene and Jane Sawyer Endowment Fund (Hutchinson Community College Endowment Association), or the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Alan Ray Wilkinson, 59, died Friday, June 15, 2018, at his home in Hutchinson.  He was born May 10, 1959, in St. Louis, MO, to Robert and Opal (Massey) Wilkinson.

He graduated from Lompoc High School in Lompoc, CA.  He was a subcontractor for NASA for several years.  He enjoyed playing the guitar, chess and fishing.

On January 31, 1992, he married Bonnie Elizabeth Benter in Lompoc, CA. She died July 1, 2000.

Alan is survived by: mother, Opal Wilkinson of Garland, TX; daughter, Patricia Webb and fiance, Ryan McCrory of Hutchinson; granddaughters, Ashley and Sarah Adkinson, both of Hutchinson, Alexis and Karrah Tatum, both of Salina; and grandsons, Seraphim Adkinson of Hutchinson, Joesph, Aaron, and Jacob Tatum, all of Salina; and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by; wife, Bonnie Wilkinson; father, Robert Wilkinson; brother, Timothy Scott Wilkinson; great-grandson, Ray Adkinson; and many friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 Monday, June  25, 2018 at Elliott Mortuary with V. Rev. Paul O’Callaghan and Rev. Joshua Burnett officiating. Burial will take place at Laurel Cemetery.  Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Wednesday through Monday at Elliott Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alan R. Jim ‘J.R.’ Davis, 67, died June 16, 2018, in Wichita. He was born October 21, 1950, in Fowler, KS, the son of H.O. & June H. (Eaton) Davis.

Jim was a 1968 graduate of HHS, served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and was a retired pipeline welder.

He is survived by: daughters, Deanna Davis of Hutchinson, Kimberly Manuel, Kelli George and her husband Ben, all of Wichita; brother, Ralph of Evans, WA; sisters, Rosetta Walz of McKinney, TX, Ellen Beachy of Hutchinson, Donatti Meyer of Haven and Rebecca Lynch of Apopka, FL; grandchildren, James Jones of Wichita, Max Harbacek of Hutchinson, Claire & Camden Davis, Karli & Emilee George, all of Wichita. He was preceded in death by: his parents, brothers Dean and Rodney and a step-brother Will Davis.

Megan Kristine Henson, 24, of Hutchinson, died June 18, 2018. She was born December 30, 1993, in Hutchinson, to Steven Wade and Karen Denise (Hargadine) Henson.

Megan graduated from Hutchinson High School in 2012. She recently started working for Electrex. Megan enjoyed anything outdoors, whether it was fishing, hiking, or four-wheeling. She loved the holidays, and any time spent together with her family. Megan was free-spirited, enjoying anything with ‘bling’.

Megan is survived by; mom and stepdad, Karen and Steven Beck of Hutchinson; father and stepmom, Steven and Molly Henson of Andover; sister, Kali Henson and husband, Alex Ibarra of Portland, Oregon; half-sister, Lacey Henson; stepsister, Crystal Nicholls and husband Josh; maternal grandparents, Leslie and Margie Hargadine; paternal grandparents, Orbie Lee and Susan Henson; and step-grandmothers, Lois Beck and Nancy Dunkin; step-grandfather, Lee Grider; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Lexi. She was preceded in death by her step-grandfather, Allen D. Beck.

Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at Elliott Mortuary. Private graveside service will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.

Ruth Ann Pearson, 72, passed away at her home in Hutchinson on Sunday, June 17, 2018. She was born Ruth Ann Baab on July 27, 1945, in Greeley, Colorado, to Robert and Dorothy Baab.

Ruth Ann earned education degrees from the University of Northern Colorado (BA 1967) and Wichita State University (MA 2004). She taught elementary age children for 34 years in school districts in Colorado, Texas and Kansas. Ruth Ann especially enjoyed teaching music at Morgan Elementary in Hutchinson. She retired in 2008.

She married Wayne Arnold Pearson on June 11, 1968. She is survived by: her husband of 50 years, Wayne; sons, Matthew (Juliana) and Robert (Elisabeth); brothers, David Baab and John Baab (Yvonne); sister, Roberta Hohman (Glenn); grandchildren, Mallorie, Ethan, Abigail and Claire; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Joan Baab.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Elliott Mortuary.

John P. Aleman, 79, of Hutchinson, died June 18, 2018, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born August 23, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Arcadio and Rita (Garcia) Aleman. He served in the United States Army.

Per his request, there will be no service. Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS is in charge of arrangements.

David Jay Bass, 64, of Hutchinson, died June 15, 2018, at Hahns Peak Lake, Colorado. He was born November 24, 1953, in Muskogee, OK, the son of J.B. and Barbara (Whitby) Bass. David attended Hutchinson High School, was on the high school varsity wrestling team while in 9th grade at Liberty Middle School, and went to the state wrestling tournament as a 10th grader. He graduated from Muskogee High School, with the class of 1972, and attended Rose State College in Midwest City, OK. David was a realtor in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado, and sold custom homes in New Mexico, Texas and Hawaii. He was one of the youngest licensed real estate brokers in Oklahoma at the age of 21.

On October 18, 1983, David married Patricia ‘Patty’ Reinert in Hawaii, and in 1988 they welcomed the joy of their lives, their son, Jeremy David.

David is survived by: his wife of 34 years, Patty; son Jeremy; father, J.B. Bass; mother-in-law, Betty Reinert; sisters, Lisa Adamson, Gayle Yarbrough (David), and Stacye Beane (Bill); sister-in-law, Ellen Shook (Roger); nieces and nephews, Tiffany Bowley (Jarrod) and sons, Jaxon, Kasen and Laken, Jason Adamson (Lacey), Nathan Yarbrough (Jenny) and children, Evie, Elliot and Eleanor, Blake Yarbrough (Kathryn) and daughter, Savana, Beau Beane (Alyssa), Kaleigh Beane, Travis Shook, and Courtney Helgerson (Philip); aunt, Joan Murray Hogan; uncles, Dale Whitby and Bob Holwell; numerous cousins; a large extended family and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Barbara; father-in-law, Carroll Reinert; grandparents, Stanley and Jessie Whitby and Floyd and Mary Elizabeth Bass.

Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at Elliott Chapel. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to service time Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
