Virginia Mae “Jenny” Cochran | 1933 – 2019 |

Virginia Mae ‘Jenny’ Cochran, 85, of Hutchinson, died Monday, May 27, 2019, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born October 31, 1933, in Wamego, to Joseph Anthony and Genevieve (Weltsch) Lenherr.

Virginia graduated from Flush High School, Flush, Kansas, in 1951. She retired March 3, 2006, as a certified nursing assistant and certified medication aide at Hilltop Manor, Cunningham. Virginia enjoyed gardening and collecting windmills and lighthouses. She was an avid animal lover, especially dogs. Virginia’s greatest love was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Virginia was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.

Virginia is survived by: children, Roxane Medlam (Danny) of Burrton, Ray Cochran (Erin) of Lake City, Michigan, Kitty Barran of Issaquah, Washington, Jill Carraher (Chris) of Tonganoxie; brother, David Lenherr; sister, Kathleen Noll (Don); grandchildren, Nathanael Medlam (Amy), Ethan Medlam, Kyle Cochran (Jen), Benjamin Cochran, Alexander Barran, Nicholas Barran; and great-grandsons, Aiden and Malachi Medlam and Noah and Finley Cochran.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Giles Lenherr, John Lenherr, Bernard Lenherr; sisters, Margaret Hysell, her twin sister, Vivian Daywalt; and the father of her four children, Robert, who died January 8, 2011.

Parish Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Church of the Holy Cross, with Father Michael Kerschen officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends following the Rosary at the church.

Memorials may be made to Cause for Paws, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Linda Lee Chaffin | 1947 – 2019 |

Linda Lee Chaffin, 71, of Hutchinson, died May 25, 2019, at her home. She was born June 6, 1947, in Alva, OK, the daughter of Walter M. and Bettye Jean (Howland) Miller.

Linda attended Nickerson High School and worked as a CNA at Buhler Sunshine Home and then as a sales clerk at Benton Greenhouse. She loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Linda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

In 1998 she married Jerry J. Chaffin in Hutchinson. He died August 5, 2011.

Linda is survived by: children, Sundi Reed, Holly Manche (Troy), Justin Franz, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, L.J. Reed, Hutchinson, Cody Waters, Kansas City, MO, Jaiden Manche, Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Mystery and Cash Reed, Oliver and Hudson Waters; sisters, Jacqulyn Konrade, Idaho Falls, ID, Sondra Price (Jerry), Iowa; brother, Walter L. Miller (Karen), Luther, OK; brother-in-law, Bill Burton, Dodge City; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Sandra Burton; brothers, Dale and Harold Miller; and granddaughter, Myesha Reed.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2019, at Elliott Chapel. Private family inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Linda Chaffin Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Albert L. ‘Al’ Brooks, Jr., 80, of Hutchinson, died May 21, 2019, in Wichita.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Fort Dodge, KS. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard.

Henry Schrock | 1925 – 2019 |

Henry Schrock, 94, of Hutchinson, died May 22, 2019. He was born May 10, 1925, in Amity, Oregon, to Joseph D. and Rachel (Christner) Schrock.

Henry was raised in Medford, Wisconsin.  He served with Mennonite Voluntary Service and with Mennonite Central Committee in Gulfport, Mississippi, and Espelkamp, Germany. In Minnesota, he was a dairy farmer and a minister at Believers’ Fellowship Mennonite Church in Meeker County. He was a member of Center Amish Mennonite Church, Hutchinson.

On June 8, 1952, Henry married Lizzie Miller of Hutchinson. They were married almost 67 years. She survives.

Also surviving are: children, Althea Salomone and husband Raymond of Mentor, OH, Virginia Schrock and husband Chris Moffatt of Richmond, VA, Mildred Sheppard and husband Jonathan of Monroe, WA, Wesley Schrock and wife Jean Ann of Arlington; grandchildren, Joseph, John, and Maria Salomone, and Joel, Peter, and Daniel Sheppard; and sister-in-law, Anna Schrock.

Henry was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, David, Joseph, Urias, Mahlon, Lawrence, Phineas, Harley Schrock; and sisters, Susanna Christner, Anna Schrock, Fannie Hochstetler, Phoebe Bartosiak, and Emma Schmiedeke.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Center Amish Mennonite Church, 7611 W. Morgan Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastors David Yoder, Dwight Miller, and LaVerne Miller officiating. Burial will be in West Center Cemetery. Family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Center Amish Mennonite Church.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Indonesia Project, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
