Marilyn Kay ‘Molly’ Sherman, 67, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 18,  2019, at her home in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born on March 16, 1952, in Great Bend, KS, to Milo Sherman and Sara Lee (Goodheart) Sherman. She grew up and graduated from high school in Great Bend. After a couple of years in college, she moved and settled down in Hutchinson, Kansas. She worked at Republic Paper Board for several years as an operator.

Marilyn’s true passion in life was love for her family, friends, and especially her animals. She lived in the country so she could raise and ride her horses. She felt more comfortable in a saddle than a car seat. Marilyn enjoyed several years of riding horses with her friends and family. She rode in several parades throughout the surrounding counties, as well as with all her friends in the saddle club, and a ranch near Medicine Lodge.  Her favorite rides were the ones that would begin and end at her place, followed by a cookout and conversation with friends.  Later on in life, Marilyn switched from horses to raising and riding mules. The mules offered different challenges, but that did not stop her. She again rode with pride and joy with her many friends and family.

Survivors include: four brothers, Wayne (Sharon), Steve, Kevin (Mary Ann), and Don (Maxine); along with several nieces and nephews. A private burial will occur with her immediate family. A Celebration of Life with all her friends will occur in the near future. Notification of exact time and date will be posted at a later date through the newspaper and social media.   Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, is in charge of arrangements.

Fred Charles Cannon, 72, died April 17, 2019, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born July 22, 1946, in Waltham, MA, the son of Carl and Thursa (Fox) Cannon. Fred graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1964 and Cowley County Community College in 1988. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1963-1966. Fred was a golf course superintendent for 32 years, working at Carey Park Golf Course, Hutchinson, Arkansas City, Kingman, and Liberal Country Clubs. He was an avid golfer, with a passion for instructing. Fred enjoyed creating custom golf clubs, small engine repair, and woodworking. He was a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and American Legion Post #128, Sterling. Fred was a man of faith and was a member of multiple Nazarene churches.

On August 10, 1968, he married Myrna Stucky in Hutchinson. They shared 50 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: daughter, Ellen Corkill (Dave), Hutchinson; sons, Senior Master Sergeant Matthew Cannon (Suzy), Fairfield, CA, John Cannon (Anna), Lyons; grandchildren, Jacob Rothe, Sarah Rothe (fiancé, Cody McReynolds), Tyler, Allison, Ruby, Jack, Pearl, and Max Cannon; great-granddaughter, Paislee McReynolds; brothers, Ted (Nancy), Dennis, Chris, Lafie, all of Hutchinson; sister, Linda King (Art), Haysville; sister-in-law, Sharon Cannon, Mora, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steven.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Inurnment will follow in Sego Cemetery at a later date. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. Janiece Eileen ‘Jan’ Rich, 73, died April 16, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born October 10, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Duane B. and Juanita I. (Hines) Brunk. Jan graduated from Haven High School and attended Fort Hays State University. She worked as a secretary for 30 years for Western Southern Life Insurance, Hutchinson High School, and Kanox, before retiring from Hutchinson Community College. Jan was a Cub Scout den leader at Lincoln Elementary School for a number of years. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. Jan was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.

On July 2, 1966, she married Craig T. Rich in Hutchinson. They later divorced.

Jan is survived by: daughter, Amanda ‘Mandie’ E. Lee (Adam), Hutchinson; son, Jeffrey D. Rich, Wichita; grandchildren, Chase Schwein, Alex Lee, Hope Rich, David Rich; brother, Gary D. Brunk (Janice), Sapulpa, OK; niece and nephews, Christy Vanek (Rudy), Kevin Brunk, Mike Brunk (Lisa), Darryl Brunk (Janet); and Samson, her white West Highland Terrier.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; fiancé, Phillip Christie; and Phillip’s parents, Bill and Phyllis Christie.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2019, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4^th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Carey officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday April 28, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Shari McNitt Brent, Hutchinson, died Thursday, April 18, 2019, at the Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS.

She was born February 28, 1970, to Kenneth and Joyce (Langrehr) McNitt in Colorado Springs, CO. Her parents later moved to Hutchinson to be closer to family. Shari was a graduate of Hutchinson High School. She married Kenneth Brent; they lived several years in Wichita before being divorced.

Shari is survived by one daughter, Cassondra Marlene Brent of Hutchinson, who is an assistant manager of a Spangles Restaurant in Hutchinson.

Shari particularly enjoyed playing board games with her mother and daughter. The three of them also liked to snuggle in bed together to watch TV and movies. Her best friends were her dogs. Her last dog, Emma, died just a month before Shari. Pet lovers may know the beautiful story of “The Rainbow Bridge”, in which the bridge connects heaven and earth. In the meadow at the foot of the bridge, beloved pets wait for their masters. Shari and Emma have now crossed the Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separated.

There will be no public visitation as cremation was chosen. There will be a private family service held at a later date.

Imogene Wave (Weyrich) Crockett, 90, formerly of Kinsley, died April 16, 2019, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, surrounded by family. She was born May 31, 1928, in Kinsley, to Frank Weyrich and Edith (Reinecke) Weyrich. Imogene graduated from Kinsley High School in 1946.

Imogene married Dwight Crockett in Kinsley on August 23, 1947, at the age of 19. They remained married until the time of Dwight’s death in 1982. Their union blessed them with three daughters:  Linda Diane, Phyllis Jean, and Marilyn Marie. Dwight and Imogene raised their three girls in Kinsley, where Imogene worked at the local doctor’s office. In 1994, Imogene moved to Hutchinson to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Imogene was a member of Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, Kinsley. She loved her family fiercely. She enjoyed playing cards, watching NASCAR, and listening to Al Jolson. Through the ups and downs of life, Imogene’s keen sense of humor helped her manage  all situations. Her feisty spirit made her very popular among all crowds. Imogene was one of the most selfless humans on the planet, and would go without to provide for her family. She was well loved by the staff at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community for the past two years, and her family is forever grateful for their care.

Imogene is survived by: daughters, Phyllis J. Bauer of Hutchinson and Marilyn Burkhart (Jim) of Goddard; grandchildren, Celeste Hughes of Hutchinson, Abbey Travis (Scott) of Colwich, Adam Hurley (Jessica) of Lenexa, Carrie Hancock of Centralia, IL,  Jackie Christiansen (Bret) of McPherson; great-grandchildren, Tessa Hughes, Tinley Wave Travis, Jaxson Hancock, Tayla Hughes, Tanner Travis, Gentri Wave Christiansen, Harper Hurley, Hattie Christiansen, Rowan Hurley, Bodie Christiansen; and sister, Mary Katherine Weyrich of North Carolina.

Imogene was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Dwight Crockett; daughter, Linda Crockett; two brothers; grandson-in-law, Jared Hughes; and great-grandson, Oliver Hurley.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. J. Christopher Edward Lee Hammond, Jr., was born in silence April 16, 2019, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

The son of Christopher and Shyanne (Warner) Hammond Sr., of Hutchinson. Also surviving are: sister, Kathie Lee Hammond; grandparents, Ronald and Tamara McFeeters, and Jason Warner Sr.; great grandparents, Chuck and Sue Paxton. Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.

Francis Ann Everson, 78, formerly of Hutchinson, died April 13, 2019, at Mayberry Gardens in Garland, TX. She was born August 9, 1940, to True Balus and Oneida (Coleman) Bell, in Paris, AR.

Francis graduated from Great Bend High School in 1958. She was the church secretary for Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson, and retired with many years of service. After her retirement, Francis moved to Garland, TX, to be close to her family.

On November 29, 1964, she married Glen Milton Everson in Great Bend. He died February 1, 1991.

Francis is survived by: sons, David Glen (Andrene) Everson, Springfield, OR, and the Rev. Christopher John (Tracy) Everson, Garland, TX; grandchildren, Deborah, Timothy and Jacob; great-grandson, Samuel; brothers, James R. (Vanessa) Bell, Olathe, and the Rev. Steven W. (Mary) Bell, Fort Scott.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and granddaughter, Kari Everson.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Quentin Nuttman and Pastor Henry Blickhahn officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, with the family present from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
