Edna Oneda Robertson Taylor Peterson was born on August 10, 1927 at Porum, OK. She went to Heaven on April 24, 2019 in South Hutchinson, KS.

She was the youngest daughter of Bill and Mae Robertson. She attended Ross Grade School and Porum High School. Oneda married Johnie C. Taylor in Oklahoma after he came home from WWII in November 1945. They had two sons, Johnie L. Taylor and Loren M. Taylor. In 1992 Oneda married Glenn E. Peterson in Muskogee, OK. They were married for 10 years until Glenn went to Heaven in 2002. Glenn was a POW during WWII for 22 months. They were members of the Ex POW Organization. She and Glenn volunteered for many hours at the Muskogee, OK. V.A. Medical Center. She loved and appreciated the veterans. Oneda worked at the Hutchinson Clinic for 14 years and was a member of Crestview Bible Church and Sr. Citizens Church in Hutchinson. Oneda loved Jesus her Saviour, her family, friends and neighbors. She was Grandma of her neighborhood. “Till we meet again in Heaven”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Johnie C. Taylor and Glenn E. Peterson; son, Loren M. Taylor; sisters, Daisy, Lucille, Lois, Thelma, Josephine; brother, Harold; and grandson, Patrick J.J. Taylor.

Oneda is survived by her son, Johnie L. (Sharon) Taylor of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Ginny Clary of Hutchinson, Jesse Taylor of Missouri and Josie Taylor of Colorado; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2019 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Phil Auxier officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. until service time Monday, April 29, 2019 at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Fields Cemetery, Porum, OK. Mervin S. Yoder, 89, died April 21, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born April 28, 1929, in LaGrange, IN, the son of Albert and Saloma (Troyer) Yoder. Mervin was a farmer and carpenter for 35 years. He also served as custodian at Elreka School for 8 years and drove a truck for Propane Central for 5 years. Mervin was involved in the M-2 program at Hutchinson Correctional Facility for many years and was a member of Center Amish Mennonite Church, Pleasantview.

On May 12, 1955, Mervin married Fannie J. Yoder in Garnett. She died December 9, 2014.

He is survived by: children, Mae Yoder of Partridge, Edith Shenk and husband Harry of Partridge, Richard Yoder of Amboy, IN, Margarita Yoder of Lawrence, Diane Yoder of Partridge, Jacinda Richards and husband Kris of Partridge; daughter-in-law, Kathy Yoder of Hutchinson; brothers, Melvin Yoder and wife Gertie of Hutchinson, Harry Yoder and wife Mary Ellen of Middlebury, IN; sisters, Mary Yoder of Hutchinson, Mae Yoder and husband Crist of Hutchinson; brother-in-law, Ora Miller of Topeka, IN, sister-in-law, Vera Yoder of Hutchinson; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mervin was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ray Yoder; brother, Thomas Yoder; sister, Cathryn Miller; and brother-in-law, Fred Yoder.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2019, at Center Amish Mennonite Church, 7611 W. Morgan Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastors LaVerne Miller, Paul Yoder, Dwight Miller, and David Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in West Center Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Center Amish Mennonite Church.

Ruth Joyce De Shazo, 85, of Hutchinson, died April 20, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson Village. She was born July 27, 1933, in Johnston City, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Spiller) De Shazo.

Ruth graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1951 and Salt City Business College. She also received schooling in court reporting. Ruth worked for many years as a legal assistant in private law firms and for county, state, and federal courts. She loved reading, playing Scrabble, doing puzzles, and ‘brain’ games. Ruth also did some modeling and was an extra in two movies, Wait Til the Sun Shines, Nellie and Picnic.

She is survived by: daughters, Leslie Fuller (fiancé, Floyd Logan Jr.), Stefanie Abbott (Mike), Valerie Schmidt (Bryan), all of Hutchinson, Jacquie Chansler, St. Joseph, MO; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Burnett, Halstead.

Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents; soulmate, Ralph Kelpine; grandson, Zhree Walters; and brother, Fred De Shazo.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.

Alzo Lewis Vaughn, 72, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital, Wichita, KS.

Alzo was born July 7, 1946 in Lebanon, KS, the son of Roy W and Betty (Lee) Vaughn. Alzo enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany for 5 years. He was honorably discharged in 1979 after serving for 15 years. Alzo enjoyed watching old western movies and spending his free time fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Vaughn; brothers, Bill Vaughn and Jerry Vaughn, and a sister, Nancy Vaughn.

Alzo is survived by his sisters Linda Mott of Oklahoma and Patti Liebler of Florida; and nephew, Charles Lamb; and a niece, Patricia Tilson.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., April 25, 2019 at Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. There will not be a public visitation as cremation was chosen. D. Gary Fisher, 80, passed away, April 18, 2019 at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

Gary was born March 8, 1939 in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Andrew F. and Anna Mae (Sturgeon) Fisher. On September 7, 1962 he married Juanita C. Pool in Hutchinson.

Gary was a custodian for USD 308 and USD 310 for almost 27 years before retiring. He was a member of First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Gerald Dean Fisher.

Gary is survived by his wife, Juanita; a son, Keith Fisher; sisters, Stella Ban of Eugene, OR., Virginia Bowman of Wichita, and Barbara (Glen) Magby of Burrton; brother, Francis E. (Lela) Fisher Sr. of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Caitlin Sue Fisher of Topeka; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on April 25, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons with Pastor Bob Phipps presiding. There will be no public visitation as cremation was chosen. Jerry L. Fleming, 65, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019 in Turon, KS.

Jerry was born May 16, 1953 in Winfield, KS, the son of Glen Dean and Barbara Joan (Parkins) Fleming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Glen “Butch” Fleming Jr., and two sisters, Edna Simmons and Bobbie Meurisse.

Jerry is survived by his two daughters, Sheryl Fleming of Turon, Barbara Fleming of Wichita; one brother, John (Jim) Fleming of Tacoma, WA; one sister, Vickie (Kevin) Pyle of Spring, TX; significant other, Cheryl Fleming of Turon, six grandchildren, Dustin Fleming, Brayden Holzrichter, Aaliyah Segovia, Clayton Fleming, Nicolas Fleming, Gabriel Segovia and many nieces, nephews and friends.
