H. Yvonne Hogan, 89, of Hutchinson, died Monday, April 29, 2019. She was born December 15, 1929, in Hutchinson, the daughter of William Dimmick and Cerise (Brown) West.

Yvonne was a member of First Christian Church. She was a seamtress, and dermatologist medical assistant for Dr. Carl O. Stensaas and Dr. Peggy North.

On September 28, 1946, she married Joe L. Hogan in Hutchinson. He died January 22, 1975. Surviving are: children, Connie Sanchez and husband Buddy of Corrales, New Mexico, Dan and wife Jean of Cheney, Alan of Hutchinson, David and wife Judy of Wichita, and Tom and wife Lori of Kansas City; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bill Dimmick.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Bob Phipps officiating. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation with family present will be from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the chapel. Glennis Berneda ‘Nan’ Nemcovsky, 94, of Hutchinson, died April 26, 2019. She was born September 6, 1924, in Hyrdo, OK, the daughter of John and Bertha (Kliewer) Warkentin. Nan was the oldest of 6 children. Her family moved to Inman, where she graduated from Inman High School. Nan attended the Adela Hale Business School in Hutchinson.

On April 10, 1953, she married Rudy Nemcovsky in Ankara, Turkey. He died November 24, 1994.

Rudy’s job took them all over the United States, where they lived in Ohio, Alaska, New Jersey, California, Colorado, and for many years on Kwajalein Atoll in the Pacific. During this time Nan worked as a jewelry buyer and in security at a radar site in the Marshal Islands. In 1978, upon Rudy’s retirement, they moved back to Hutchinson to be closer to Nan’s family. Nan was very involved with Hospice House. She was a very generous person and enjoyed helping others. Nan enjoyed reading and valued the time she spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Norma Jean; brothers, John and Leroy.

Nan is survived by: sisters, Darlene Seibel and husband Wallace of Wichita, Jolene Cross of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Carolyn Warkentin; niece, Kim Grady and husband Shane; nephews, John Cross and wife Janise, Jim Warkentin and wife, Gretchen, Steve, and Greg Seibel; two grandnieces and three grandnephews.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Jimmy E. Jestes, 79, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Via Christi Hospital, Wichita, Kansas.

He was born August 28, 1939 in Allen, OK, the son of James N. and Judie C. (Davis) Jestes. On February 14, 1991 he married Lois Jane Baker at the United Methodist Church in Haven, Kansas.

Jimmy was a United States Army veteran obtaining the rank of Major before retiring on December 1, 1977. While serving in the Army he completed two tours in Vietnam, was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division where he completed 350 jumps. After retiring from the military, Jimmy did private contracting in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia from 1980 to 1982. He then went to work for the Hutchinson Correctional Facility retiring from there in 1992. Jimmy also owned his own dairy farm in Ottawa, KS for seven years, this had been his childhood dream to do so ever since he was a young boy growing up on a dairy farm. Jimmy and Jane have been members of the Brookdale Community for the last 3 years. Jimmy considered the staff and residents his extended family and they were greatly loved and appreciated.

Jimmy enjoyed hunting and teaching hunter’s education. His family commented that he had a very ornery spirit and enjoyed teasing his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Edward, Jake and Leon Jestes and two sisters, Helen Smith and Liberty Bacon.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Lois Jestes; six daughters, Judi (Michael) Winter, Jeana (Che`) Carrasco, Jami (Tyler) Hicks, Lisa (Doug) Kellerby, Angie (Bill) Hilsendeger, Karen (Jordon) Barnes; one son, Michael (Pepper) Edwards; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in the Burrton Cemetery, Burton, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project and sent in care of the funeral chapel.

Gary Dean Hallford, 63, of Hutchinson, died April 25, 2019, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born January 25, 1956, in Pratt, the son of John G. and Lafara M. (Smith) Hallford. Gary graduated from Haven High School in 1974 and Hutchinson Community College in 1976. He was a warehouseman for Dillons and was a member of Teamsters Local #795. Gary had attended Haven Baptist Church and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee and Sunday school teacher.

On August 7, 1976, Gary married Kelly L. Stewart. They shared 42 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: sons, Chad Hallford, Albuquerque, NM, Kyle Hallford (Brandi), Andover; brother, John Michael Hallford (Janet), Hutchinson; sisters, Debra Schriever (Doug), Partridge, Lessie Diener (Marvin), Olathe; his Jack Russell terrier, Chloe; and two granddogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Julie May Hallford.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at New Hope Baptist Church, 4815 E. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Brian Lee and Dr. David K. Lallathin officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Cemetery, Haven. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Elliott Mortuary.

Norma J. Martin, 84, of South Hutchinson, died April 18, 2019, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born October 27, 1934, in Hutchinson, to Alpha J. and Ida M. (Bontrager) Kauffman.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Journey@South Hutchinson, with Pastor Howard Wagler officiating. Friends may sign the book at the mortuary until the service.

Lorene Marie Schmidt (89 years) left this earthly home for her new one on April 27, 2019.

She was born October 3, 1929 northwest of Kinsley, the daughter of Otto Herman and Kathryn Daubert Stach.

She had lived in Kinsley –Greensburg –Pratt –Larned before retiring and moving to Hutchinson in 1988. She had been a nurse aide in Pratt and retired as a Licensed Mental Health Technician at Larned State Hospital.

She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson since 1988. She had played organ previously at a number of churches in several towns. She knew it was her way to serve her Lord.

Survivors include three sons and wives: Darryl and Judy Schmidt in Eldon, MO; Duane and Carolyn Schmidt of Bend, OR; and David and Michelle Schmidt in Pratt, KS. Lorene had six grandsons, three granddaughters, ten great-grandchildren and her sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt, KS at a later date. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt, KS.

Marie Korf, 93, of South Hutchinson, died April 24, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born December 5, 1925, in Jetmore, the daughter of Herman R. and Jessie P. (Dean) Knoefler. Marie graduated from Jetmore High School in 1943 and from Adela Hale Business School. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Coberly Drugstore, Hutch Floral, and Lowen Sign Company. Marie enjoyed gardening and bird-watching, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

On November 11, 1946, Marie married Elmer L. Korf in Hutchinson. He died August 27, 1984.

She is survived by: daughter, Lana Ballard and husband Rick of Hutchinson; son, Steve Korf and wife Darla of Humboldt; grandchildren, Steven Ballard and wife April of Weatherby Lake, MO, Lindsey Demo and husband Brad of El Dorado, Tanner Korf and wife Hilary of Pflugerville, TX; great-grandchildren, Sam Ballard, Ellie Ballard, Theo Korf, Banks Demo; sister, Dorothy Dixon of Jetmore; one niece and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Hazel, Ruby, Natalie; brothers, Leo and Dale.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Hanston Cemetery.
