Kent Wade Berger, 55, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019. He was born February 20, 1964, in Hutchinson, the son of Donald Lee and Barbara Jean (Barker) Berger.

Kent was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and owner/operator of Ace Fire Extinguisher.

He was an Eagle Scout, loved spending time with his grandkids and making Sam’s runs with his best pal.

Kent is survived by: his mother, Barbara Berger of South Hutchinson; sons, Jarin and wife Laura, and Keaton and wife Jessi; sister, Kimmie Orem; brother, Christopher; and grandchildren, Eli, Nolan and Lydia, all of Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald and sister, Kathy Poole.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson. R. Arlene Barb, 91, of Hutchinson, died May 1, 2019, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson. She was born November 23, 1927, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Isaac and Marjorie (Chrisman) Goertzen. Arlene graduated from Hutchinson High School, attended Sterling College and received her degree in deaf education from Wichita State University. She taught deaf students in area schools for many years. Arlene also enjoyed painting and teaching painting and art. She was a member of the Cow Creek Chapter of the Kansas Old-Time Fiddlers, Pickers, and Singers, Hutchinson Music Club, ADK Sorority, and First Baptist Church.

On May 7, 1950, Arlene married Pat Barb in Hutchinson. He died March 22, 1998.

She is survived by: daughter, Dianne Bogle (John), Hutchinson; sons, David Barb, Hutchinson, Timothy Barb (Bobbi), Wichita; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Rick Cochran, Hutchinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arlene was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband of nearly 48 years, Pat; daughter, Leslynn Cochran; sister, Bonnie Hoskins; brothers, Darlow, Leslie, and Calvin Goertzen.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2019, at First Baptist Church, 800 N. Main, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Jim Autrey officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary.

Annetta Marie (Unruh) Howard, 87, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born November 30, 1931, in Whitewater, Kansas, to Heinrich B. and Maria (Voth) Unruh.

Annetta graduated from Halstead High School. She was a homemaker. Annetta was active in EHU, and volunteered with 4-H for the Kansas State Fair. In addition, when her children were in school, she was active in the PTA. She also enjoyed volunteering with the American Red Cross for their blood drives and helping with elections. Annetta was an attentive caregiver, always putting her family and friends ahead of herself. She loved being a wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma, constantly helping and supporting her family.

On March 18, 1956, she married Raeburn Marvin Howard at First Mennonite Church, Halstead. They shared 63 years of marriage.

Annetta is survived by: husband, Marvin, Hutchinson; children, Susan Stroberg (David), Hutchinson, Steven Howard (Vicki), Halstead, David Howard (Debbie), Hutchinson, Kathy Dey (Mike), Overland Park; grandchildren, Andrea Kitch (Scott) and daughter, Kinley, Scott Stroberg (Gretchen) and son, Lewis, Amy Rine (Cody), Aaron Howard (Taryn), Kyle Howard (Malika), Shelby Kaufman (Tyler), Andrew Howard, Ross Howard (fiancée, Liz Reeder) , Jack Howard, Elyse Howard, Owen Dey, Miles Dey; brother, Otis Unruh; sister, Rosetta Auernheimer , brother-in-law, Pete Klassen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; infant sister, Darlene; and sisters, Hunora Schmidt and Velma Klassen.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Gary Getting officiating. Burial will follow in Burrton Cemetery. Paul Everett Hart, 83, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS.

He was born October 31, 1935 in Clayton, Mass., the son of Wilbur and Mabel Louise (Curtis) Hart. On June 13,1959 he married Nonna (Gallivan) Hart, and later divorced. On May 29, 1993 he married Barbara Rieke in Olathe, KS, she survives. Paul was a proud United States Airforce veteran serving from May 18, 1954 to July 11, 1957 when he was honorably discharged.

Paul worked 32 years for Morton Salt in South Hutchinson, KS before retiring. Paul had many hobbies throughout his life that he enjoyed; such as, woodworking, gardening and flying airplanes, but what he loved to do the most was play golf whenever he had free time to do so.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Paul is survived by his wife Barbara Hart; children, Kelly Hart and wife Lori, Sharla Closs and husband Bill, Kevin Hart and wife Shelley, Shelly Bredemeier and husband John, Kerry Hart and wife Pam, Kyle Hart and wife Hannah; one sister, Mina Hart; thirteen grandchildren, Tyler Closs, Evan Closs, Jordan Hart, Colby Hart, Chandler Hart, Tanner Hart, Cole Bredemeier, Ellie Bredemeier, Camden Hart, Kaylee Kelly, Emory Lewis, Taylor Hart and Cooper Hart and six great grandchildren, Andre Hart, Conner Hart, Cayson Hart, Mackenzie Hart, Skylar Hart and Lennox Hart.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be given to the Cancer Council of Reno County and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.

Andrew Suarez, 81, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  He was born March 30, 1938, in New York City, to Andres and Pilar Suarez.

Andrew served in the United States Navy.  He retired as a high lift operator at Dillons Warehouse. Andrew enjoyed trips to his lake home on Kanopolis Lake.  He also enjoyed fishing, coaching his sons’ baseball teams, and his dogs.   Andrew was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; family was his number one priority.

On January 18, 1957, he married Beverly Joan Danford in Hutchinson, at First United Methodist Church.  They shared 62 years of marriage.

Andrew is survived by:  his wife, Beverly; children, Diane Cannon (Steve), Kathy Sayers (Sam), Debbie Matthews, Frank Suarez, Jim Suarez (Sheryll), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jeffrey Matthews (Heidi), Jason Matthews, Dustin Friesen, Derek Friesen (Amanda), Allison Marshall (Jordan), Sarah Suarez (fiancé, Noe Martinez), Jessica Suarez (Dustin Belote); and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; grandsons, Jamie Matthews and Justin Matthews; brother, Frank; and sister, Sara.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Blake Gillen officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard.  Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time Saturday.  Memorials may be made to the Christian Soup Ministry (Soup Kitchen) or Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Georgia Norene (Prock) Nay, 85, of Hutchinson, died April 29, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society-Hutchinson Village. She was born October 30, 1933, in Ava, Missouri, the daughter of G. R. and Mabel Prock. Norene was one of eight siblings and graduated from Ava High School in 1949. She also attended college at SMS in Springfield, MO.

In 1952, she married Merle O. ‘Bones’ Nay in Wichita. He survives. They were married 66 years and had two children.

Norene worked at the ticket office as a secretary in the Athletic Department at Kansas State University. She then worked as a legal secretary for several attorneys in Kansas and was the secretary for the President of the Wichita-Eagle Beacon newspaper. Norene was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed painting. Norene was truly a nice and kind person, and was such a blessing to family and friends.

Norene was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Christopher Orlen; three sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by: sister, Gratie Ann Shinpaugh and husband Carl; daughter, Cynthia Ann Kitch and husband Rick; grandsons, Ross Kitch, Scott Kitch and wife Andrea; two step-grandchildren, Junilda Scribner and husband Daniel, Jeremy Tucker and wife Toni; two great-granddaughters, Liby Kitch and Kinley Kitch; three step-great-grandchildren, Alex Marie, Talon, and Ty Scribner; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at First Church of the Nazarene, 4290 N. Monroe, Hutchinson, with Pastors Kent Pedersen and Josh Moore officiating. Robert Benjamin ‘Bob’ Heide, 82, passed on to be in his forever home with his eternal Father on April 29, 2019, from a heart attack at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Bob was born January 13, 1937, in Mountain Lake, MN, the son of Peter and Nellie (Epp) Heide. He graduated from Mountain Lake High School and attended Bible college for one year. Bob worked as a carpenter for many years. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Hutchinson.

On March 21, 1959, Bob married Norma J. Harder in McPherson. They shared 60 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: sons: Eugene Heide (Ellie), Keith Heide (Angela) and Galen Heide (Pamela), all of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren and their spouses; seven step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; brothers, Darrel Heide (Susan), San Bernardino, CA, Donavan Heide (Janice), Tucson, AZ, Jerry Heide (Kathy), Colorado Springs, CO; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Marvin Heide; and sister, Lavina Wall.

Burial will be 9 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, at North Inman Cemetery, Inman, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, 1221 E. 33^rd Ave., Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Elliott Mortuary.
