Beverly “Sunny” J. Teter-Byerly, 63, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 at Lifecare Center, Wichita. Sunny was born June 30, 1956 in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Robert and Barbara (Gross) Teter.

Sunny graduated from Buhler High School and attended Barton Community College. She worked as a para-legal for the State of Kansas. Sunny spent her time volunteering at Rainbows United in Wichita and doing charity work in her community. She had a love for animals, especially dogs.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Teter; grandparents, Chester and Meda Teter and Jack and Mildred Gross.
Sunny is survived by her father, Robert Teter; mother and step-father; Barbara and Dale Cook; sister-in-law Yevette Teter; niece, Taylor Teter and nephew, Austin Teter.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel. William ‘Bill’ Fredrick Heer, 68, of Hutchinson, died April 3, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born May 29, 1950, in Akron, CO, the son of Conrad C. Jr. and Margaret E. (Bennett) Heer.

Bill graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Sedalia, MO, received bachelors and masters degrees from Central Missouri State University, and earned his PhD in Agronomy from Oklahoma State University. Bill was the Agronomist in Charge of the Kansas State University South Central Experiment Field for 27 years and was also an Associate Professor at K-State. He was a member of the American Society of Agronomists for over 30 years and served on their board for 10 years, in addition to serving on the Agri-Business Committee of the Hutchinson-Reno County Chamber of Commerce. Bill was a member of Church of the Holy Cross. He was a PSR teacher for many years.

On August 18, 1978, Bill married Barbara Ann Jenkins in Sedalia, MO. They shared 40 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: son, Patrick Heer (Jammie), Minneapolis, KS; daughter, Susan DeWitt (Matt), Braman, OK; brothers, Conrad ‘Butch’ Heer (Amy), Annandale, VA, Joe Heer (Jean), Olathe; sisters, Mary Sutton (Gary), Medford, OR, Theresa Nonbello (John), Plymouth, MN, Cathy Bowden (Larry), Pleasant Hill, MO; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and lots of aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place. Parish Rosary will be 10:30 a.m., followed by Christian Mass at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Rd., Hutchinson, with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. God opened the door and set her free. Susan Colladay Perkins, 76, of Hutchinson, peacefully passed within the comforting care of Hutchinson’s Hospice House on March 30, 2019, surrounded with love. Susan was blessed to have by her side three caring children: son, Ed and Cindy Barnes; daughters, Terri and Gregg Foulk and Janie Skinner; and her four beautiful grandchildren, Raechell (Jamal), London, Garrison and Chloe. She is also survived by: sisters, Nancy and Elbert Lee, Marty and Rodger Quy.

She now has joined her family who previously passed ahead of her: grandson, Josh Jennings; sister, Sally Syler; parents, Charles and Maxine Colladay, plus so many more who were a part of her life.

She may be physically gone from our view, but her spirit will always be imprinted in our hearts.

Janice Kay ‘Jan’ Kinney, 79, of Hutchinson, died March 30, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born March 23, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Roy and Phyllis (McQuiston) Corson.

Jan graduated from Shortridge High School  in  Indianapolis, IN, and attended Purdue University. She helped start Kappa Alpha Theta at K-State and was a lifetime member of the organiza- tion. Jan was a huge fan of KU and Purdue University, where she was a member of the Purdue Choraleers. She enjoyed golfing and was a current member of Prairie Dunes Women’s Golf League. Painting was another hobby, and Jan enjoyed being active in the Hutchinson Art Center. She was also an amazing pianist (who played by ear). Jan will be fondly remembered as the white-haired lady who enjoyed driving her yellow convertible Mustang with the car top down, letting her hair flow freely in the breeze. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a member of Fellowship Group 6 and the Altar Guild.

On September 16, 1965, she married George E. Kinney in Houston, TX. George and Jan met in Junction City, while George was in the service and Jan was the secretary for the Dean of Women Students at K-State.

Jan is survived by: her husband of over 53 years, George of Hutchinson; sons, Gregory D. Kinney and wife Lezlee of Keller, TX, Michael P. Kinney and wife Megan of Hutchinson; grand- children, Morgan Mijares and husband Joe of Haslet, TX, Hayley Kinney, Brett Kinney, both of Fort Worth, TX, Molly Kinney, Meredith Kinney, both of Hutchinson; and two great-grandchil- dren, Parker Kinney Mijares and Mila Mijares, both of Haslet, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert Corson and Dick Corson.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Avenue, with Pastor Tim Carey officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbari- um. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Emanuel Lutheran Church Parish Hall (enter through the south doors). Jan treasured her time spent with family  and friends; she was deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Kay Emery ‘Red’ Swarts, 81, of Hutchinson, died March 30, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born November 27, 1937, in Newton, to Abraham Artman and Margaret Ida (Eberhart) Swarts. Kay went by the nickname of Red, owing to his naturally red hair. In fact, many of his friends never knew his given name, only knowing him as Red.

After graduating from Newton High School in 1956, Red went into the Army and served overseas in the 124th Signal Company as a radio operator. Once back stateside, he worked for several years at Detroiter Mobile Homes in Hutchinson before starting his final career at Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1966 until his retirement in 1998. After retirement, Red became a hobby farmer and raised cattle for a number of years. He often said if he had to do it over again, being in the ranching business would have been his preferred lifelong profession.

On December 22, 1961, Red married Lyola Lorraine Fallis at her home in Hutchinson. They divorced in 1977. They had two children, Casey Allen and wife Sharon and children, Elizabeth and Justin, of Hutchinson and Troy Lee and children, Joshua of Wichita, and Nikki Megyri, of Hutchinson. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren and by his brother, Lynn Edward Swarts of Newton and sister, Gloria Ann Shephard of Oregon.
Red was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Wanda Joyleen Dyck, and ex-wife Lyola Lorraine Wright.

An avid motorcyclist in his younger days, after a knee injury Red began running long distances. His running led directly to his long love affair with bicycling, which he enjoyed almost to the end. During his 80th year, Red racked up over 4,000 miles on his various bicycles, before succumbing to pancreatic cancer.

Another favorite pastime was drinking coffee at McDonald’s with his buddies, Monday through Friday, come rain or shine.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will be present from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard at 3 p.m. No other services are planned. Cremation will take place.

Bonnie Willis (McCaslin), 70, died Saturday, March 30, 2019, in her family home, surrounded by her two daughters and family. She was born July 20, 1948, in Fortuna, Missouri, the daughter of the late Claude and Elsie (Anderson) Crenshaw.

Bonnie met James Willis in 1969 and they soon married. They were together until his death in August of 2002. They started their family in February 1971, with the beautiful birth of their first daughter Lisa, and the birth of their second daughter Kelly on Christmas Day 1975. Bonnie loved ALL her daughters deeply and unconditionally

She is survived by: daughters, Kelly Willis and Monnie King, both from South Hutchinson, Lisa and Greg Rodriguez, both from Hutchinson; sisters, Audean Dale and Alice Williams; brothers, Jackie and Donnie Crenshaw; her beloved grandchildren, John James and Christopher Leslie, Bradly King, Hayley and Jett Rodriguez; her husband, Lyle McCaslin; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was a ceramic teacher assistant, who was taught by MaryJane Brunk (South Hutchinson), whom she loved and adored. Bonnie enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and dominoes even if Kelly always won. She painted many beautiful pieces and won several awards and recognition for them. Bonnie was an avid collector of pajamas and did not like the words eggs and pizza. Bonnie did not like using a motorized cart when Kelly was around, as they would end up playing a game of bumper cars.

Bonnie made a huge impact, and was very loved by everyone that met her and would always make people smile and laugh, even to others that did not know her. She is known nationally by her ever-so-popular viral videos made by her daughter. The latest video was her at Wal-Mart, which was viewed and shared by several thousand people.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Abbyville Community Church, 201 W. Avenue G, Abbyville, with Pastor Dale Levering officiating.
