HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After being away for about ten years, the Salvation Army in Hutchinson held an annual dinner. The event called “Portraits of Hope” was a chance to thank the many volunteers that help the Salvation Army, but to also hear stories of those who have benefited from the many programs the agency offers.

The guest speaker Tuesday evening was Buhler USD 313 Superintendent Mike Berblinger, who talked about the challenges of keeping hope alive especially in young ones:

 

 

Berblinger said that there are so many challenges facing young people these days, that strong encouragement is becoming essential to keeping a positive outlook in the face of a changing world:

The event included a silent auction and testimonies of stories from two people who have benefited from the generosity of the Salvation Army.
