The Hutchinson Community College football team took a slight hit from Saturday night’s 54-34 loss at No. 12 Navarro College in Texas.
The Blue Dragons dropped four spots to No. 14 in the NJCAA’s first regular-season football poll of 2012 on Tuesday.
With the release of the latest national poll, the 1-1 Blue Dragons (1-0 Jayhawk Conference) will meet a nationally ranked team for the third-straight week to open the 2012 season. Hutchinson will play at No. 19 Garden City in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Memorial Stadium.
HCC has defeated No. 17 Coffeyville 58-26 and dropped a 20-point decision to now-No. 9 Navarro on Saturday night.
The Blue Dragons started the season ranked No. 10. The latest ranking marks the 30th-consecutive poll and the 39th time in the last 41 polls that the Blue Dragons have appeared in.
Defending national champion East Mississippi received 7 of 9 first-place votes and remains the No. 1 team. Butler, which defeated Blinn College 28-10 on Saturday, remains No. 2. Arizona Western is third, followed by Mississippi Gulf Coast and Hinds.
Coffeyville (0-2) dropped from the poll this week.
Garden City has defeated Independence 56-49 and Cisco College 24-19 in climb into the poll for the first time this season.
