Blue Dragons Match Run In Football Poll With 29th Straight Appearance

The Hutchinson Community College football team matched yet another record this season when the Blue Dragons appeared in this week’s NJCAA final regular-season football poll.

The Blue Dragons have appeared in 29 consecutive national polls, a streak that matches the program’s longest run in the polls from 1994 to 1997.

After dropping a 40-21 decision to No. 3 Butler on Sunday in the Region VI championship game, the Blue Dragons (8-3) dropped six spots to No. 14 in this week’s poll.

The Blue Dragons have now been ranked in 29 consecutive and 37 of the last 39 NJCAA football polls. HCC had been ranked in the NJCAA Top 10 in 15 consecutive polls before falling out after the Air Force Prep loss in Week 3. The Blue Dragons have been ranked as high as No. 3 this season and as low as No. 15. The Dragons have been in the top 10 on three different occasions this season.

An announcement on the Blue Dragons’ Salt City Bowl opponent will be made Tuesday afternoon.

Arizona Western and East Mississippi remain Nos. 1 and 2 in this week’s poll with 11-0 record. Butler and Grand Rapids are tied for third. There are four undefeated teams remaining in the NJCAA this week.
