HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College football team added one more player to its 2017 list of players moving on when running back Tre King signed a letter of intent with Texas Tech University.

King is a 6-foot, 198-pound running back from Wichita. After a freshman season of spot duty, King has worked his way into significant playing time through the first five games of the 2016 season before an injury cut his season short.

King had 90 carries for 352 yards, which led the team at the time of his injury. King had five touchdowns, all rushing. He had two receptions for 11 yards and accounted for 399 all-purpose yards.

As a freshman, in eight games King had eight carries for 43 yards.

King is the 29th player in the Blue Dragon signing class of 2017. He is the fifth to go to a Power Five Conference school and the eighth to go to an FBS program.

Now 10 years into his tenure, Rhoades has helped 170 players move on to four-year program, an average of 17.0 players per season. A total of 50 players have moved on to FBS programs.
