Police say they have no definite suspects in a robbery case at the Sirloin Stockade at 1526 East 17th.
The suspect was described as a black male, standing 6-foot-1, wearing black jacket with some type of Asian art or marking on it entered the store prior to it opening and pulled a handgun and demanded cash.
This was around 6:06 a-m. He then placed the employees in a cooler at the restaurant. They were able to contact 911 using a cell phone.
Police say they’re looking at other cases that might be similar, but wouldn’t specify that they had anyone specific in mind as a possible suspect.
Both Hutchinson Police and Reno County Sheriff’s Officers responded to the scene Saturday, and cordoned off the area. They then began go around the building looking to see if the suspect may still be on the premises. Eventually, heavily armed officers entered the building, again looking for the suspect, but he had apparently already left. They then freed the employees from the cooler.
Police also searched fields behind the building for the suspect and possible evidence.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Hutchinson Police Department at 694-2816.
