Officials at Promise Regional Medical Center have made it official, the name of the hospital in Hutchinson will change names again, the second time in three years.
In a news release officials say, “The name change will return the hospital to its storied history and deep community roots.”
The Board of Directors at Promise Regional Medical Center voted unanimously to return Hutchinson to the name of the hospital and its partners. While brand design has not been determined, the board has selected Hutchinson Regional Medical Center as the permanent hospital name.
Additionally, references to the hospital and its affiliates will become Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System. The hospital’s affiliate partners, which include Health E‐quip, Ray E. Dillon Living Center, Horizons Mental Health Care Center and Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, will carry the tagline “A member of the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare Family.” The hospital foundation will change to Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation.
The change will include all aspects of the brand including logo, mark and colors.
“After careful consideration of many factors related to a decision of this kind, the board believed it was in the best interest of our community health system to recognize Hutchinson in the name,” said Bruce Buchanan, chairman of the board.
Operational funds will not be spent to cover any of the costs associated with the name change. Private donations to the hospital foundation will be used to cover expenses incurred.
“Over a period of thirty years, the hospital foundation has reinvested $16 million dollars back into the hospital system to fund the medical facilities, services, and equipment needed to ensure patients had access to quality care,” said Ken Vogel, chair of the Foundation Board. “While this is a non traditional use of funds, the Foundation board understands the long‐term benefits of the name change and recognize this as being in the best interest of the health system and community.”
By January 1, 2012 the board anticipates all branding decisions will be made and the new brand will be revealed to the public.
