A Hutchinson woman was taken to a Wichita hospital after her home caught on fire on the southwestern side of Hutchinson early Saturday morning.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 609 West Avenue A, just after 7 a-m. Smoke was coming from the home when they arrived, but the victim somehow managed to get out of the home and was located on a neighbors porch across the street.

She was taken by Reno County EMS to Hutchinson Airport, then flown to a Wichita hospital, most likely Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center. She was listed as code red, or in critical condition. Her name was not released.

The fire was thought to be small possibly in one room, but the small single story home had smoke damage through out.
