

NEWTON, Kan. — Harvey County Attorney David Yoder released more information on the arrest of the Halstead City Administrator and the former Police Chief Tuesday.
Former Police Chief, Steven Lewis, is charged with misuse of public funds occurring sometime in May and October of 2011. He is also accused for the theft of ammunition on two occasions, the first on or about June 11, 2012, and the second time on or around April 30, 2013.
He’ll make a first appearance in court on Nov. 29 and Yoder says the investigation against Lewis is ongoing.
As for Halstead City Administrator, James R. Hatfield, he was arrested for one count of felony perjury, which is alleged to have occurred around Dec. 8, 2015. He’ll also have a first appearance on Nov. 29.
Both men have posted bond and will remain free while waiting further court proceedings.
