Area fire units were busy with a brush fire Wednesday afternoon east of the new K-61 highway between 95th & Arapahoe Road, or 108th Street.
Fire units from several departments were helping battling that blaze that burned about 80-acres of green wheat. They say that made it difficult to put out because, it was burning closer to the ground, and also putting tremendous amounts of smoke.
The winds certainly didn’t help with gust as high as 47-miles per hour at one point as they were battling the fire.
Smoke could be seen clearly from the Medora Road, 85th Street exit along K-61.
Fire units from Hutchinson, Buhler, County Fire District 3, Inman, McPherson and Moundridge.
