WAMEGO, Kan. — The defending boys 4A cross county state champion Buhler Crusaders settled for second place at the Wamego Invitational over the weekend, while the girls captured the team title at the Wamego Country Club.

On the boy’s side, Wamego won the team title with 89 points. Buhler finished with 96. Sophomore Tanner Lindahl led the way for Buhler in third place in a time of 16:52.

The girls won with a team score of just 25 points. Baldwin was next with 81 and Eudora was third with 11. The ladies were led by Daycee Dewindt with a second-place finish in 20:57.

In the class 1,2 and 3A race, Trinity Catholic finished in seventh place in the boy’s division with Michael Maldonado leading the way in 33rd place with a time of 19:33. The girls finished in 11th in the final team standings. Sierra Garcia was first across the line for the Celtics in 35th place, clocking a 24:17.

Pretty Prairie did not have a girl’s team score in the meet. Sophia England finished in 20th place. The boys finished 22nd place in the team standings. Tristain England finished 104th on the day.
