Members from the city of Buhler were before the Reno County Commissioners Tuesday asking that they go against previous decisions and grant the entire community a request to encompass the entire community under a neighborhood revitalization plan.

Such proposals from Haven and South Hutchinson were turned down because those community’s also wanted their entire city included in the program which offers tax abatement for new construction.

Kauffman says the entire city needs the program due to the wide dispersal of property’s that would benefit from the program, and asked that the commission look ahead, and give small communities the ability to grow and compete with surrounding cities that already have the program in place.

No action was taken by the board, but the item will be on next weeks agenda for action.
