Burrton man formally charged in aggravated assault case

One of four people suspected on being involved in the incident back on January 29, was in court Friday morning for the formal reading of charges against him.

19-year-old Edward Fowler of Burrton is now formally charged with 2-counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of hash, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no tax stamp. He was the only that was held on the charges he was originally arrested for.

18-year-old Sean Tipton got a break when Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen couldn’t find probable cause for the charges of aggravated assault against him, however, he does face a charge of interference with law enforcement.

Two others were released from jail with no charges.

The case centers on two Hutchinson residents reporting to police they were threatened with a gun while in the 2900 hundred block of North Plum, that being 26-year-old Land and 18-year-old Julian Wood.

Fowler’s case will be placed on a waiver-status docket.
