HUTCHINSON, Kan. — At this time last year, former Hutchinson City Councilman Bob Bush was
undergoing cancer treatment in Houston. Now, since he has gone unchallenged and, barring a write-in candidate, Bush will become a Reno County Commissioner at the start of the new year.
Bush says he’s been reflecting this week that a year ago he was in Houston for seven days of radiation treatment over the Memorial Day weekend. Bush is now back to training, working full time and, as he said in a release, setting himself up for another fun term in public office.
Bush says none of it would have been possible without the support of his wife, family and friends. He joked about becoming a County Commissioner. “Either I scared them all off with my past public service, or as my friends say, no one wanted the job.”
Bush will replace Commissioner Brad Dillon at the end of the year.
