HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After a very successful fly-in at the Hutchinson Airport this spring, two more fly-in events are coming up this week.

The International Grumman Pilots Association is bringing its annual convention to Hutchinson Sept. 24-27.

At least 50 aircraft and nearly 100 people are expected for the four-day event. Pilots are expected to fly in or attend from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany.

In addition to the Grumman group, the Hutchinson Airport is the second stop on the Kansas Air Tour on Thursday, Sept. 27.

The Fly Kansas Air Tour originally took place in 1928. The goal of that first tour was to promote the fledgling aviation industry in Kansas. Today, the air tour promotes Kansas aviation and shares the message that aviation is open to all. The public is encouraged to visit the local airports during the tour stops to see the airplanes up close, talk to the pilots and learn about the role of aviation in Kansas.

The Kansas Air Tour aircraft will be arriving at KHUT between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 27. After a short presentation by the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, Air Tour pilots will depart KHUT around 11:15 a.m. The public is encouraged to watch the aircraft arrivals and/or departures as many types and styles of aircraft will be present.
