HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Two residents from California were arrested over the weekend on drug distribution charges while traveling through Reno County.

Shane Michael Britton and Paris Follman are both jailed on $500,000 bonds for possession of drugs including methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute.

They were stopped for driving 75 in a 65 mph zone. Both were acting nervous, according to the deputy. The deputy was granted permission to search the vehicle using a K-9, according to statements made in court. The dog indicated there were drugs. A further investigation led to the discovery of 1.7 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and 1.23 pounds of marijuana.

Follman requested a reduction of the bond during a court appearance, which was opposed by Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton, who noted they have no ties to the area and had nearly $70,000 in drugs. Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen agreed and denied the request.

Both will be back in court next week.
