HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Chances are good that cancer has touched you or someone close to you. The Cancer Council of Reno County is holding a special event to honor and remember those who have fought or are fighting cancer. Starlight Remembrance will take place Sunday, Sept. 29, at Avenue A Park in Downtown Hutchinson at 6:30 p.m. with a boat float through Avenue A Park.

Participants can decorate their memorial boat and honor loved ones by candlelight as the boats sail through the water. Boats are complimentary. Guests are encouraged to bring their own supplies to decorate, lawn chairs and blankets. Local musicians Shelby Harner, Morgan Wilk, and Frankie Shayne Pearman will be providing music for the evening.

“We are so excited for Starlight Remembrance,” CCRC Executive Director Sandy Woodson said. “It’s a beautiful way to remember those who are fighting cancer, have fought cancer, or remember those who have lost their fight to cancer. I hope you’ll join us to watch the lantern boats sail down Cow Creek this Sunday evening.”
