The warm weather made Carey Park Golf Course a popular place in January. Figures released by City Finance Director Dennis Bockenstedt showed a major increase in the number of people playing a round at Carey Park than the same month last year.

The figures show 973 green fees were paid out to play the course compared with 451 in January of last year. Total green fees revenue increased by more than 163% from just over 25-hundred dollars in 20111 to more than 66-hundred dollars last month. There also major increases in cart rental and driving range fees. While the numbers are good it doesn’t necessarily mean a major jump in the financial picture of the golf course over all.

Golf Course Superintendent Eric Raigoza says that so many people are paying their cart shack rental fees and season passes at this time of the year, it makes the numbers look less impressive than they really are. Ragoza telling Eagle Radio that the month was very strong as the numbers reflect.

For the month of January, the course took in total revenue of 30-thousand 171-dollars compared with 26-thousand 273-dollars the same month last year.
