The case against a 27-year-old Hutchinson area man arrested after a 10-minute chase with law enforcement is on hold at the moment because of mental evaluations.

Christopher Gregory is charged with four counts of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, felony flee and elude, and four counts of criminal damage to property.

He was scheduled for the status-waiver docket Tuesday morning in front of Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen, but apparently the case is on hold because he is undergoing mental evaluations. The judge told us that he had been sent to Larned, and is now getting another evaluation from Horizon’s Mental Health Facility.

The case started during the noon hour on June 22, when sheriff deputies were dispatched to a home at 7503 E. 30th, on the report of some type of disturbance. But, Gregory left the area prior to them arriving, however he was spotted by a deputy on 43rd. Later, Gregory is alleged to have stopped his vehicle then backed into the officers vehicle. He later side swiped another sheriff vehicle and also damaged a Hutchinson Police Cruiser.

The chase ended with Gregory was traveling south on the old K-61 highway, but it now runs out of pavement south of 43rd. But he proceeded anyway, and the went into a big dip in a construction area just north of 30th & the new K-61. He then got stuck, and law enforcement had to struggle to get him into custody.

Bond was set at 150-thousand dollar bond and again the case is on hold until the mental evaluations are complete.
