HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Trinity High defeated The Independent School of Wichita 73-20 to open 2A sub-state Monday night.
The Celtics quickly took charge of the game by running down the court and scoring back-to-back shots.
Lucas Hammeke hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to extend Trinity’s first quarter lead to 20-5.
The second quarter produced more Celtic dominance. Hammeke scored an easy layup after a Panther turnover with under three minutes left in the second quarter.
Trinity went into the break with a 37-10 advantage.
The Celtics gave up only 10 points in each half. Trinity finished the night with a 73-20 victory.
Trinity will face Garden Plain at Conway Springs on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m.
