Chautauqua County woman pleads guilty to Medicaid fraud, mistreatment charges

SEDAN – A Chautauqua County woman entered a guilty plea Wednesday to charges of conspiracy to defraud the Medicaid program and mistreatment of a dependent adult.

39-year-old Cheri Newman, of Moline, entered the guilty pleas before District Judge Gary House in Chautauqua County District Court. Newman agreed to repay $9,743.04 in restitution to the Kansas Medicaid program. Sentencing is scheduled for August 8 at 1:30 p.m.

The charges stemmed from the defendant’s conduct in providing home health care services to an individual in Chautauqua County over the course of several months. A second defendant also has been charged in connection with the matter, and those charges remain pending.
