CHENEY, Kan. — Cheney Reservoir and the state park are nearly filled to capacity for this weekend’s last big bash of the summer.

According to the park, the utility campsites have long sold out and the west shore primitive camping is about 95 percent filled. East shore camping is about 75 percent full.

Park officials say the lake level is good and free of debris, although it is forecast to be a bit stormy and windy at times.

The lake will also have its annual Labor Day fireworks show put on by the Ninnescah Sailing Association. The event will be held at the Filburn Cove at dusk.

The Ninnescah Sailing Association is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to promoting sailing and water safety at the lake and around the area. The group has held the fireworks display since 1995.
