HUTCHINSON, Kan. — During the Reno County Commission meeting Tuesday, Director Bill Hermes gave an update on the numbers for Reno County Youth Services in December and January.

In December, the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Office saw a total of 25 children classified as “in need of care.” Six of those were under 10, including two who were under the age of 1. Sixteen of these children have been seen before.

This same office saw 34 children classified as juvenile offenders and 24 of those children had been seen before.

It was pretty much the same story last month when the Intake and Assessment Office again saw 25 children classified as “in need of care.” Again, six of those were under 10 and one was an infant. This month, 13 of the children brought in had been seen by that office before.

In January, the office saw 27 children classified as juvenile offenders with 19 seen previously by that office.
