HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will hold its public hearing on the 2017 budget
during the regular meeting Aug. 2.
This year’s budget totals $87,498,752 on taxes levied of $11,654,583. Bond and interest for the year totals $2,967,250. The budget will increase the mill levy by one full mill to 44.195 mills. Even with the one mill increase, the budget has been cut by some $2.5 million in order to keep the city’s reserves at a safe level.
If all goes as planned, the budget will be approved either Aug. 2, or at the following meeting Aug. 16.
