City Council will discuss park shelter and consider bids Tuesday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will give consideration to bids for the new Zoo Education building during Tuesday’s agenda session. The bid being recommended to the council is from Hieb and Associates at $268,900.

Also Tuesday, the council will consider a contract with Landmark Architects for the renovation of the law enforcement center for the Hutchinson Police Department at a cost of $187,250.

The council will also get an update on the Orchard Park Pavilion. The council rejected bids for the pavilion after bids came in nearly twice the projected cost, which was approximately $850,000.

The action by the council came after questions were raised by several council members over whether the public building would cause too much competition with other such facilities that are both privately and company owned.

Tuesday’s Hutchinson City Council meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the Hutchinson city offices.
