HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Much to do about building and housing on Tuesday’s Hutchinson City Council agenda.
The Council will hold three public hearings during its agenda session. One is for the issuance of $5 million in health care facilities revenue bonds for expansion and renovation at Wesley Towers. The second is the long awaited resolution involving the Commerce Gardens Apartment project. The apartment complex recently received a major tax credit boost from the State Housing Corporation to remove and rebuild the entire complex located just south of Home Depot. The tax credit is similar to the one that helped fund the Wiley Building project. The Council will be asked to approve $10 million in industrial revenue bonds for that project.
Finally what is expected to be a long and detailed public hearing, the Council will talk about 15 properties the the city feels are unsafe and should be condemned. Also during the meeting, the council discussed one of those properties that the City Landmarks Commission wants saved. The property up for consideration is at 545 E. 1st Ave.
