City to put up money to help solve recent homicide

The amount of money being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Jennifer Heckel continues to climb with Mayor Ron Sellers asking the council to approve spending 5-thousand dollars for the effort to find her killer.

The famly also recently announced they were chipping in 5-thousand dollars and were also planning another fund raiser.

Governor Sam Brownback had announced last month that the state was also offering a reward of 5-thousand dollars for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals who shot and killed Heckel. Hietschmidt says that will be the same for this reward, that the person or persons responsible would have to be arrested and convicted of the crime.

It was June 14, when Hutchinson Police were dispatched to a home on the city’s northwest side and found her body. She been shot multiple times

Hutchinson Police Chief Dick Heitschmidt says the investigation continues with four detectives working the case along with a KBI agent.
