HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will go on a six-month trial period where one meeting a month will be held in the evening.

After much discussion, council members decided an evening meeting would allow more people to attend. The evening meetings are scheduled every second meeting of the month at 5:30 p.m. The first meeting of the month will take place at its regular time of 9 a.m.

The first evening meeting is June 19.

The city has been asked on several occasions to hold meetings in the evening because many residents with issues pertaining to city matters are unable to get off work and voice their concerns.

The county has already established special meetings around the area communities to better communicate with constituents.
