City’s first-ever half marathon coming to Hutchinson on Sept. 25

Hutchinson will experience its first-ever half marathon running event as two area agencies come together to sponsor the Salt City Run for the Rocks Half Marathon on Sept. 25.

Hutchinson Recreation Commission and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hutchinson are coordinating the event, with proceeds going to both organizations. The event will start at 8 a.m. on Sept. 25 at Carey Park, with the 13.1-mile course weaving along various Hutchinson sights and features, including: Jim Martinez Trail, Rice Park, Old Farm Estates/Hyde Park neighborhood, the Kansas State Fairgrounds, the Cosmosphere, Hutchinson Community College, and ending with a lap at Gowans Stadium.

Registration and other information is available at www.runfortherocks.com. Event organizers are looking for additional volunteers to help along the course and finish line.
