A 21-year-old Hutchinson man who allegedly ran from a Hutchinson Police Officer last week after the officer stopped him on a routine traffic matter finds himself in much more trouble. Police say they found items consistent with a meth lab inside the vehicle he was in.

Cody Reno is jailed on charges of attempt to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of ephedrine with attempt to manufacture meth, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony interference with a law enforcement officer, driving an unregistered vehicle and no insurance.

Officer Matt Peil made the traffic stop on October 10, in the 400 block of North Washington after he ran a stop sign at 5th & Adams. As the officer went back to his patrol vehicle, Reno allegedly ran off, and during a search of the vehicle, the items consistent with a meth lab were found.

He had been arrested just after 9:35 p-m Saturday at an apartment of 935 East Sherman for being possession of drug paraphernalia, however the state charged him with possession of marijuana as well.

In court, Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton told the judge that he thought the current bond of 86-thousand, 700-dollars was appropriate for the charges, but Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen stated that was both cases, and set bond in the attempt to manufacture case at 75-thousand, and possession of marijuana case at 25-hundred dollars.

Reno as we mentioned in previous stories is also listed as an absconder from Community Corrections for two cases from last year where he was convicted and sentenced in each case for being in possession of meth with intent to sell.

He faces a 91-month sentence in that case and with the new charges, look for the state to ask that his corrections be revoked.

The two new cases will now be moved to a future waiver-status docket.
