Cold Day at the Fair

It was a cloudy cold day for the Thursday edition of the Kansas State fair and it showed with the fair down about $11,000.00 dollars from the same day last year.

Certainly the weather had a lot to do with the slow day with temperatures in the 50’s. All was not lost with a great turn out for the REO Speedwagon and Little River band concert, which took in 3614 paying customers, which is 108% of the break even point. Friday is also the last day for the school field trips under the Kansas’ Largest Classroom program with about 5400 students participating this week. Tonight’s grand stand concert is the christian rock group Third Day starting at 7:30.

The fair is expecting a huge turnout for the Sunday concert, featuring Big Time Rush, with more than 6300 tickets already sold.
Unlike Monday’s triple digit weather that had everyone heading for the State Fair fountain, cloudy skies and 50 degree temperatures greeted visitors on Thursday
