HUTCHINSON, Kan. – After a continued discussion of whether to approve the purchase of an x-ray system and walk through scanners for the new secure entrance to the Reno County Courthouse, the commission approved the purchase on a 2 to 1 vote with Commission Chair Dan Deming objecting to spending that much money.

The equipment will be purchased by U.S testing Equipment of Vancouver, Washington at a cost of $44,650.00.

As we had told you earlier, Reno County Fire District Four was granted approval to purchase three new brush trucks in March of 2015. Those new brush trucks were outfitted and are now in service. The commission Tuesday declared two of the old brush trucks as surplus and they will be sold on purple wave.

The commission also approved purchasing new air bottles for Fire Districts 8 and District 9. Cost will be $39,750.
