HUTCHINSON, Kan. — As expected, the Reno County Commission made quick work of its meeting Tuesday with end-of-the-year business.

That included transferring funds around, which County Administrator Gary Meagher says are dollars they actually budget each year.

Included was the transfer of health department funds to the health department capital outlay fund with a total of $44,500. Meagher explained that this money is used for the health department to use for maintenance on its building or for car replacement if needed.

The commission also agreed to transfer noxious weed funds to the capital outlay fund for a total of $10,000. This is used for the purchase of equipment for that department. Meagher says there is no money budgeted next year for the transfer of funds.

The biggest appears to be the transfer of public works road and bridge funds to the special highway fund, which will be used for work in that department, at a total amount of $450,000.

The last was for the fire district funds to be transferred to the fire district’s special equipment funds. Meagher didn’t have exact numbers for each fire district, but those numbers will come early next year.

All four were approved by the commission.

The commission also agreed to reappoint Meagher to the Horizons Mental Health board for a fourth straight year.

Commissioners also set a date for a meeting in Haven for the evening of Thursday, Feb. 8.
