HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Commission approved an agreement with the Ochs Law Firm of Colorado Springs to represent the county in a civil suit against manufacturers and distributors of opioids.

This won’t really cost the county any money, but it could receive some funds back depending on the outcome of the national lawsuit.

The law firm will actually come to Reno County and research what losses the county has suffered. Commission Chair Ron Hirst talked about possible uses for the money, should the county receive any:

 

If there are funds received as part of a settlement of the lawsuit, the county would have 25 percent of its share taken out as a contingency fee. It will not cost the county anything if there is no settlement.
