Committee To Address Fireworks In The Area.

A small panel is being assembled to address the issue of fireworks in Hutchinson and the surrounding area. During Tuesday’s Hutchinson City Council meeting, Mayor Dave Razo announced that a committee involving fire officials, city leaders and others would be assembled to discuss possible restrictions in fireworks after a very busy Independence Day holiday in which several homes suffered damage and one was lost in a fire.

Councilman Bob Bush also suggested that a representative from the numerous fireworks vendors be allowed to participate to offer their expertise on what fireworks would fall in line with the city’s wishes to curb some of the more elaborate consumer displays. The city hopes to have a recommendation for the council in the next month or two. Reno County Commissioners have already indicated that they will likely follow the city’s path in restricting fireworks.
