A road construction employee was seriously injured in an accident east of Salina Tuesday morning.

The Saline County Sheriffs Office reports that 60-year-old Robert Panzer of Ellsworth, was injured when he was caught in the PTO of a water pump at the construction site at Niles Road and I-70 just after 7 a-m.

Panzer suffered severe injuries to his left arm, left, and cuts and bruises on his face. He was taken by helicopter to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment of his injuries.

Panzer works for Malm Construction of Lindsborg, who is the contractor for the rebuild of the Niles Road interchange on I-70 about 10-miles east of Salina.
