HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 35-year-old man who at one time absconded from parole is now serving a parole violation for a conviction of attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child for a case out of Ford County in 1998. He now faces a charge in Reno County, which was actually filed in 2003.

Daniel Quintana was charged back then with one count of aggravated battery by State Senator Terry Bruce, who worked for the local DA’s office at the time.

Quintana allegedly battered Philip Russell here in Hutchinson during an altercation on July 19, 2003.

The case is just now making it through the court because Quintana apparently took off for California and was just recently located and brought back to Kansas.

Because the charges were filed back in 2003, statute of limitations doesn’t apply.

With him being read the charge, the battery case will now move to a waiver-status docket in front of Judge Joe McCarville next month. His bond in the case is set at $250,000.
