HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 28-year-old Kansas Department of Corrections inmate serving time for second-degree murder for a case in Seward County in 2005 now faces a charge of battery of a corrections officer here in Reno County.

Eddie Nunez is accused of battering and causing injury to a female officer at the facility here in Hutchinson back on Jan. 13, 2016.

The crime is a level five person felony with a maximum sentence of over 11 years in prison.

With the formal charge filed, his case will move to a future waiver-status docket.
