HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Commission appears ready to proceed with moving some properties into Reno County Fire District Eight in the Pleasantview area. That would include all of the businesses along U.S. 50.

Those business and property owners are currently in Districts Two, Three and Four. They had concerns over response times and believe being moved into District Eight would solve that issue.

The next step will be to put the changes in resolution form, which will be done quickly. Once approved by the commission, it will need to be published and there will be a 30-day protest period. They hope to have all this done quickly so the change can take effect on July 1.

They also discussed a request from Health Department Director Nick Baldetti for additions to the Environmental Health Fee schedule. They will make any final decisions on that next week.
