How does a school teach trigonometry and engineering to sixth graders?

Students in Steve Stacey’s pre-engineering class at the Career and Technical Education Academy will work with sixth graders on air-powered rockets from 12:50 to 2 p.m. on Oct. 10 and 11 at Graber Elementary School, 1600 North Cleveland.

The CTEA students will help the sixth graders build compressed-air rockets in two minutes or less. Those rockets, then, will be launched at Graber. Students will use trigonometry to calculate the expected path and maximum altitude of the rockets.
