Man facing drug distribution charges denied bond reduction

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 29-year-old Hutchinson man charged with the alleged distribution of drugs was in court Monday seeking relief from his bond, which is set at $10,000.

Bryan Green is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, personal use drug paraphernalia, interference with law enforcement and aggravated false impersonation.

Green was arrested on March 23 on a warrant for the Reno County case which alleges that, at the time of his arrest by Hutchinson Police, he had between 3.5 and 100 grams of methamphetamine on him, as well as the paraphernalia which the state alleges was used to distribute drugs. He also allegedly had a small amount of marijuana on him and gave the name of Shawn Green, which they later learned was not his name.

Green was also arrested on a Kansas Department of Corrections warrant out of McPherson County. He had served time for manufacturing meth, conspiracy to manufacture, possession of opiates and arson convictions here in Reno County from 2004. He was also convicted for having a precursor to manufacturing meth for a case in Rice County that same year. In Harvey County, Green has convictions for having a precursor to manufacture meth and flee and elude for a case that goes back to 2007.

Judge Joe McCarville, after hearing arguments from the defense and the state, denied the request and the case will proceed with the defendant remaining in custody unless he is able to post the bond.

Hutch man charged in stalking case now faces new charges

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 22-year-old man charged in a stalking case has another case pending and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Dylan Mendoza is charged with felony theft of a firearm, that being a 22 semi-automatic pistol, conspiracy to commit felony theft with three other people: Brady Roberts, Tristen Mendoza and Conner Kingsbury. The third count is misdemeanor theft.

The state alleges that on or around Feb. 13, Mendoza stole a gun from a home in the 200 block of West 13th. He’s also alleged in a conspiracy with three other people in the stealing of the gun as well as other items including a laptop computer.

Mendoza has already been charged by the state with stalking, aggravated intimidation of a witness and two counts of making a criminal threat in a domestic case. The alleged crimes occurred on Feb. 17 and 18. All of the crimes were made against the same victim.

Mendoza is free on bond in both cases.
