HUTCHINSON, Kan. — One of the four suspects in the home invasion cases from last year was sentenced to roughly 20 years and five months in prison.

Dakota Anderson was convicted of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated robbery, one count of aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated burglary as well as other various charges.

The two home invasions occurred in the 3600 block of Rockwood Drive and the other in the 3400 block of North Waldron. The first occurred on May 4 and the second on May 14, 2015.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell told the judge that what the defendants did in these cases is appalling. He asked for 307 months, or roughly 25 years. The defense asked for a mid-range sentence on each count. Judge Tim Chambers sentenced Anderson to the 20-plus years on count one and ran all other sentences concurrent.

When allowed to speak, Anderson told the judge that what happened to the victims is tragic, but still claims he is innocent. He says the courts failed him and he will appeal. He says he’ll win that appeal and he’ll be back.

Judge Chambers called the crimes “almost sadistic,” calling them “senseless violent crimes.”

Defense Attorney Shannon Crane indicates they will file a motion for a new trial and wanted the sentencing continued, but earlier this week, Judge Chambers said “no,” saying in court Friday that the verdict occurred 4 months ago.

Anderson was the last to be sentenced in this case.

Jordan Eiffel received over 20 years for the two cases.

Frederick Lemons Jr. was sentenced for his part in the case involving the break-in and robbery at the home on North Waldron to over 20 years in prison.

The fourth suspect saw his case handled through juvenile court.
